Capacity Planning Analyst

Group Overview:

The Capacity Planning team helps ensure the most effective and efficient use of a large IT investment across distributed, mainframe, and storage environments. Capacity practices cover reporting & trending, application performance oversight, business impact analyses, ad-hoc studies, modeling and hardware/storage forecasting.


Responsibilities:

Perform high-level capacity planning functions across critical distributed server and/or mainframe environments.

Monitor key business projects and related capacity and performance drivers in order to anticipate and plan for hardware, storage and software upgrades.

Conduct software/hardware analysis as necessary to assess workload performance impacts and hardware capacity growth.

Prepare regular analysis and reports to management covering the health of mission critical servers and/or mainframes and recommend alternative capacity remedies where appropriate.

Qualifications:

5-7 years proven experience with capacity management including: data collection & monitoring, reporting techniques, modeling and sizing

Must have good technical understanding of UNIX, Linux, Windows and/or mainframe systems

Requires solid oral and written communications skills, and a strong familiarity with one or more capacity/performance tools

Proficiency with Excel, Perfman, CA, and OpNet performance and capacity planning modules

Familiarity with Team Quest a plus.
