Job Overview:
-Independently writes job scripts using operating system commands to execute sequential procedures.
-Creates database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, triggers, sequences, constraints, and rules.
-Provides first level problem resolution support to customers, including SQL tuning and solving performance and/or connectivity problems. Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.
-Troubleshoots problems and applies fixes, including fixing corrupt indexes, restoring corrupt databases from backup, and assisting programmers with repairing corrupted data.
-Independently creates, manages, and implements project plans of low to medium complexity.
-Performs simple Database Management System design using data modeling tools.
Tunes databases, software and operating system environment.
-Works with senior level staff to maintain the data dictionary.
-Independently develops and tracks own performance with respect to key objectives, behaviors, and leadership competencies for the job.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements needed:
·Bachelor’s degree preferred.
·Two four years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
·Four to six years of experience supporting IBM DB2 database systems.
·One to two years of experience with database support on an IBM z/OS platform.
·Four years experience in database design, referential integrity, and modeling.
·Able to lead and manage project-related assignments of short to long duration with a medium to high level of complexity.
·DBMS certification (IBM DB2 Certified).
·Working knowledge of installing and maintaining DBMS.
·Knowledge and working experience with DBMS security, and OS and hardware setup, configuration, and security.
·Excellent working knowledge of Database Management System (DBMS) tools and IBM DB2 database support, including modeling tools, methodologies and normalization.
-Knowledge of operating system security and network technologies is preferred.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-Must possess good project management skills.
